Papa Johns has added something new to their menu: pizza bowls made of pizza toppings poured into a crustless plastic bowl, and social media users are far from separating the pizza from the crust.
“Papa Bowls” will be out nationwide next week, but some pizza aficionados have already gotten their hands on it, describing the bowl as “garbage.”
Customers can choose from three different bowls: Garden Veggie, Chicken Alfredo, and Italian Meats Trio.
The Indiana-based restaurant will charge $7.99 each and will be available to all customers on August 22, though loyal customers were able to sample as early as August 15.
Papa Johns has released a new menu item called “Papa Bowls” that puts a fresh spin on the classic pizza.

Pizza bowls consist of pizza toppings poured into a crustless plastic bowl, and social media users are nothing less than enthusiastic.

The new form of pizza comes after the restaurant saw a decline in sales in recent years and wanted to add a new twist to the classic pizza.
The new form of pizza comes after the restaurant has seen a decline in sales growth in recent years.
Papa Johns announced that sales at North American restaurants increased by just under one percent in the second quarter, up from five percent compared to the same period last year.
This is a big difference from 2020 sales, which saw a 28% increase.
The restaurant chain hopes the new twist on the classic pizza will create a new stir among pizza lovers.
Scott Rodriguez, Senior Vice President of Menu Strategy and Innovation at Papa Johns, said:
While many thought the bowl would be a healthier alternative to pizza, Scott noted that he still wanted to offer people the “pizza delight.”
Another reason the pizza restaurant created new menu items was to eliminate the “veto vote”, which meant excluding a restaurant because there wasn’t enough choice for all party goers.

While Papa Johns hoped their new twist would excite pizza lovers, it’s not over yet, causing outrage among Twitter users.
The company hopes to increase sales by offering more options for those who don’t want to dine in the group and enjoy a slice.
While Papa Johns hoped their new twist would excite pizza lovers, it’s not over yet, causing outrage among Twitter users.
“To get pizza-hungry people back, Papa Johns is selling a bowl of wet waste,” one user wrote.
Another user added: “If you think Papa Johns is as bad as pizza, we shoved the whole crust into a bowl.”
“Father Johns is a mess. Because pizza over a bowl of shit is preferable,” another user commented.
One user added: “Many people are enthusiastic about pizza. No matter how you cut it, far fewer people get excited with Papa Johns. And literally no one ever said ‘I want pizza’ and then ate it from a bowl.
Another user added: “Partly out of curiosity and partially because yes, you can develop a gluten allergy later on, I tried Papa Johns pizza bowls and they’re exactly what you think they are. They scrape all the ingredients off the pizza and put it in a bowl. It’s not even half full. Too expensive.’
