In a new explosive book, Meghan Markle lived 2,000 miles from her first husband and told friends she didn’t want to be “handled”.
Tom Bower wrote that in Revenge: The War between Meghan, Harry and the Windsors, he saw the role of the then-actress, who set sail to star in the TV series Suits, as a potential “escape map” if necessary due to her relationship with Trevor Engelson.
The couple met in a West Hollywood bar in 2004 and had been together for six years when Meghan made her big break as Rachel Zane in the legal drama.
According to the author, the early years of the relationship were happy, with Meghan barely able to “keep her hands off” from her filmmaker boyfriend.
Author Tom Bower reports that Meghan Markle nicknamed her first husband, Trevor Engelson, “Trevity-Trev-Trev.”
Bower said Meghan, who played Rachel Zane in the legal drama Suits, stayed in Toronto after filming, while Trevor stayed in Los Angeles because he didn’t want to be “snatched”.
He is even said to have affectionately given the nickname “Trevity-Trev-Trev.”
After years of struggling to star with Trevor in Los Angeles for years, Meghan shot the Suits pilot in New York, USA in 2010.
When the show ran for 12 episodes in early 2011, it was announced that production would take place in Toronto to save money.
According to Bower, Meghan was the only actress who was happy with the decision and wanted to live in the Canadian capital instead of commuting from Los Angeles, where Trevor still lives.
The writer wrote: “To the amazement of the producers, Meghan chose to set up her permanent home in Toronto instead of commuting like other Los Angeles actors.”
Bower said Suits was picked up by a television station, but when it was announced that filming would take place in Toronto, Meghan was happy.
He also revealed that Meghan has decided to stay in Toronto in November even after filming is over.
Meghan told the producers that breaking up with Los Angeles and Trevor wasn’t a bad thing.
However, Bower said she heard a friend describe Meghan’s first husband as “super emotional”.
Bower wrote: “While Meghan was able to bond with Trevor, she didn’t like being taken over.”
“If needed, Suits was the exit card,” she added.
In a later episode of Revenge, Bower claimed that Trevor could sense the emotional distance in the relationship and posed in Belize.
Other bombshells in the book claim that Meghan allegedly made the Duchess of Cambridge cry over her bridesmaid dresses before she married Prince Harry, a claim Meghan denies.
Bower wrote that Kate Middleton was “shed in tears” after Meghan “negatively compared Princess Charlotte to the daughter of her best friend Jessica Mulroney”.
The allegations are the latest in a long string of arguments over an alleged argument between Meghan and Kate over bridesmaid dresses.
Speaking about the incident in an explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey last year, the Duchess of Sussex said: “Kate (Kate) was upset about something, but she owned it and apologized. And she brought me some flowers.
Bower took to Good Morning England to discuss her book, and said Meghan had warned her loved ones not to talk to her.
He said: “He openly told all his friends and the people who work for him not to talk to me, so it was a pretty tough battle, but there were enough people to talk to, more than enough, I got 80 people. . . . ‘
If the host Ben Shephard had interviewed people who didn’t like the Duchess of Sussex, the story might have been an unbiased statement.
Bower replied: “Since I’ve searched, I haven’t run into anything that isn’t true and can’t be verified.
