One woman reported second-degree burns to her foot after taking off her shoes to get home from work.

After blisters come out of your shoes On Monday, 23-year-old Mahima D’Cunha, from Bournemouth, Dorest, walked barefoot for just two minutes on her way home from work.

But as temperatures rose to 27 degrees during the heatwave in the UK, Mahima’s bare soles soon began to burn on the hot pavement, preventing her from walking properly.

What should have taken Mahima five minutes to get home took 50 minutes instead.

When Mahima finally staggered back home, she quickly ran her feet under the cold tap before NHS 111 told her to go to the emergency room.

“When I got home, I ran it under cold running water for 15 minutes and watched.

“I then decided to use 111’s online reporting service and they advised me to go to A&E minors, which is where I went.

“When I went, a nurse examined and dressed them and told me to come for the evaluation the next day, so I did and now I dress them every day until they are healed.

“I was at work all day, so I had no idea how hot it was outside.”
