Australians make fun of Americans for ONLY discovering electric kettles

The Australians apparently mocked America for discovering that electric kettles existed, and they saved much more time than using the stove with boiling water.

While the United Kingdom has enjoyed the tea-making device for over a century, it has long been an oddball for the United States, which refuses to keep up with the times when it comes to electric kettles.

The New York Times recently published an article titled “A quick and easy way to heat water without a stove,” and shared a list of recommended products to buy to get the most out of the new “trend.”

“Think of the kettle. Many models even allow you to set a precise temperature, which is key to getting the best taste from your coffee or tea,” the article continues.

Australian journalist Benjamin Law shared a screenshot of the caption on Instagram with many Americans forced to defend their “new discoveries.”

‘Are the kalers new there? I knew they were living in the 40s but I didn’t know it was this bad…” she wrote.

“Maybe they’ll have good coffee someday,” added another.

“Every time my grandparents visited Australia, they destroyed a kettle by putting it on the stove,” said another.

One person boldly said: “Everything is empty, Americans can’t make proper tea or coffee anyway.”

“Look, we finally have chips on our debit and credit cards. Calm down here,” someone said.

And in defense: ‘Voltage does not support the use of the kettle with the efficiency we have in Australia. Everyone in my (American) family uses a kettle.

The New York Times changed the title of its article to “Best Electric Kettle” after watching the debate online.

Adam Foskey, who moved to Melbourne from southern Georgia, said in February that Americans tend to make tea by boiling water on the stove rather than using a kettle to make tea.

In a video posted on the popular TikTok page, Adam makes tea, as he does in the United States – by filling a pot with water and boiling it on the stove – then again as in Australia – simply by pressing the kettle spout.

American expatriate Adam Foskey has stirred up the Internet after he pointed out the huge difference between American and Australian cuisine.

In a video posted on TikTok, the Georgian man who now lives in Melbourne showed the Americans making tea by boiling a pot of water on the stove.

America vs Australia: The Georgian man, currently living in Melbourne, showed in a video on TikTok that Americans were making tea by boiling a pot of water on the stove, while Australians simply turned on the kettle.

Hundreds of Australian viewers in the comments were shocked to see that Americans were not using the ubiquitous kitchen appliance at the time.

‘What! No kettle in America!? Did they forget? Or what??’ someone wrote.

“I remember having trouble making tea with a coffee maker in the US, calling the kettle downstairs. I have silence,” said another.

“Note to self: Get your kettle ready for a trip to Disneyland,” joked the third.

While some pointed out that many Americans skip the stove altogether and use the microwave, others have tried to explain why electric kettles are so rare.

“I read a thread this morning through the Americans about microwave ovens instead of boiling water on the stove,” one person said.

“Sockets in the US are low-voltage, so kettles don’t really work or heat up very slowly,” another user explains.

In the comments, hundreds of Australian viewers were shocked to see that Americans did not use an electric kettle, but instead boiled water on the stove or in the microwave.
