An American living in the UK was puzzled as to why Brits call pubs the words “damn”, wondering why we don’t all take offense at the names.

But for this American expat living in the UK, he’s now puzzled as to why pubs have particular names.

Going to pubs is part of British culture, so Americans weren’t sure why the British were so rude to their beloved drinking spots.

In a clip from TikTok that garnered thousands of views, the U.S. citizen asked his 100,000 followers what’s wrong with ads with rude names.

“Why do UK pubs call swearing, people don’t care, it’s so offensive and rude?” they questioned

In the video, they filmed a pub in St. Albans, Hertfordshire, with the classic name “The Cock” to show an example of their confusion over the name “rude”.

The dirty-minded American thought the name referred to a man’s intimate area.

However, they didn’t realize that a rooster is, in fact, a male pecker, not just a jargon penis.

The British were quick to jump into the comments to get the American out of his misery.

One person joked: “Talk to another male chicken.”

Another user added: “It’s actually the name of an animal.”

A third said: “This word also stands for male chicken in the UK.”

Someone else said, “You’d rather it be called ‘the macho chicken'”.
