Do you want to pass your license or are you already driving? Then this news is for you. Starting from 2025, significant changes affecting drivers will be introduced in Russia. Some will come into force as of January 1, while others will come into force in early March.

fines
Since January 1, administrative liability for various violations has been tightened. Thus, penalties for overspeeding and drunk driving will increase significantly. For example, for exceeding the speed limit by 20-40 km/h the penalty will be 750 rubles, for 40-60 km/h it will be 1.5 to 2.5 thousand rubles, for 60-80 km/h it will be 3 to 3.75 thousand rubles. rubles, and for speeds exceeding 80 km/h – 7.5 thousand rubles.
For drunk driving you will now have to pay 45 thousand rubles. Instead of 30 thousand, the driver’s license deprivation will remain for one and a half to two years. Refusal to undergo a medical examination will be punishable by a similar fine in the amount of 45 thousand rubles.
Administrative liability for harm to health due to traffic violations will become more serious. For minor damage to health, the fine will be from 3.75 to 7.5 thousand rubles, and for moderate damage – from 15 to 37.5 thousand rubles.
Running a red light will now cost 1.5 thousand rubles, and repeated violation will cost 7.5 thousand rubles. Driving in the wrong direction on a one-way road will face a fine of 7.5 thousand rubles. The fine for violating stopping or parking rules increased to 2.25 thousand rubles. You will have to pay up to 1.5 thousand rubles for not wearing a seat belt.
The procedure for paying fines will also change. The grace period will be extended from 20 days to 30 days, but the payment discount will decrease from 50% to 25%.
OSAGO
New rules regarding vehicle registration will come into force on March 1. One of the main changes will be the removal of the mandatory presentation of an MTPL policy when registering a car.
This will significantly simplify the registration process of traffic police officers and speed it up for vehicle owners. But the policy will continue to be necessary for the operation of the vehicle, because without it it will be impossible to move on the roads.
Drivers who do not have compulsory automobile insurance will face serious fines. The first violation will remain at the level of 800 rubles, but repeated fines will increase to 3-5 thousand rubles. In addition, this year the video recording system for the existence of compulsory motor insurance will become operational. This will automate the process of checking and imposing punishment, which, according to experts, will increase the efficiency of control.
Delete Registration
It is now possible to deregister a car immediately after its sale. This will avoid fines for violations by the new owner. But such a procedure will be possible only when a purchase and sale contract is signed through the State Service, notarized or when the owners are changed by court decision.
