Mikhail Bocharov’s short film “Monster” received a special award from the expert council of the “Bridge” film festival this year. After all the employees leave, the janitor gets to work but is suddenly chased by a monster in the trash can.

The plot tells about the life of an old monk who settled in Karelia more than 20 years ago. The man is the hero of these places, like the sage of the Finnish-Karelian epic Väinämöinen, who also lived in harmony with nature. The old man seems almost a semi-mystical character, but the photographs and trophies in his house tell us that there is room for great deeds and heroism in his past.
