Sacha Baron Cohen explains why he won’t return to the role of Borat

The provocative comedy Borat, released in 2006, turned Sacha Baron Cohen into a world-famous star. The film was dissected for quotes, and the actor became firmly associated with the spontaneous journalist who dreamed of marrying Pamela Anderson.

Cohen then began using Borat’s image in satirical parodies on current issues and producing short videos and films. However, Borat soon disappeared without any explanation. And now Cohen has explained why he won’t be returning.

It turned out that in one of the shootings he seriously angered the rally participants and, by a terrible coincidence, they had a gun with them. “After that rally, I was actually on the run. I was being followed. I changed shelter for about four days. It got so crazy that you realized it took some skill, preparation, and luck. And at some point you might run out of luck,” Cohen said on the SmartLess podcast.

And recently, another film with the actor’s participation literally destroyed his marriage with Isla Fisher. Actress Rebel Wilson said Cohen took liberties on the set of The Brothers Grimsby movie. Later, the actress managed to achieve justice, but Fisher had already filed for divorce.
