October is brimming with new series without asking if we’re ready. Very soon we will need a “pill” from the autumn blues, and nothing does the job better than a warm blanket, a shelf of caramel cream and, of course, TV series.
The variety of genres is pleasing: there are stylish action movies and thrillers for those who want to break and destroy everything, and for those who simply seek comfort and want to escape melancholy, we have chosen tear-jerking dramas. We will tell you which TV series we will enjoy in October.
“Cupid”
1 October
Stylish action-thriller with a cyberpunk aesthetic. Twin sisters Anya and Nadya (both played by Alena Mikhailova) grew up in an orphanage and were inseparable, but then they parted ways – Anya became an MMA fighter, and Nadya went to Japan to find a profession. When her sister is in danger, Anna travels to a foreign country with her ex-boyfriend Ermak (Yuri Kolokolnikov) to fight the Yakuza and save her.
“Joan”

An atmospheric crime drama in the spirit of the 1980s, starring Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner. She plays Joan, a young mother who tries to save her six-year-old daughter from the stubborn clutches of the guardianship authorities and who also specializes in stealing diamonds. By the way, the series is based on the true story of famous thief Joan Hannington, who also served as a consultant on the project.
“El Ruso”

The series “El Ruso”, presented at the “Pilot” film festival, became one of the most original projects. Of course: At the center of the plot is a community of Russian Old Believers in Argentina. The main character, a young widow and Old Believer, was played by Svetlana Ivanova. While she is forced to remarry, she and her young son go to visit relatives in Buenos Aires. His son witnesses a brutal murder on his first day in the metropolis. And this forces him to cooperate with the Russian immigration police officer (Semyon Serzin).
“Not all coincidences are coincidental”

Originally, the title of the series was translated as “disclaimer”, and this is understandable. TV reporter Catherine Ravenscroft (Cate Blanchett) receives an award for her professional achievements: scandalous exposure of individuals and organizations. His family adores him, his colleagues admire him and bite their elbows. But one day, his reputation is in danger when he comes across a book in which he is the main character. The author reveals his worst secret to the public and now everyone is ready to turn away from him. The plot is based on the best-selling book by Rene Knight, and the film adaptation was undertaken by Alfonso Cuaron himself. The series was first shown in the out-of-competition program of the Venice Film Festival.
“Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage”

This series, a spin-off of “Childhood Sheldon”, is a prequel to “The Big Bang Theory”. This time, the center of the story will not be the eccentric theoretical physicist Sheldon Cooper, but his older brother, the bully Georgie, who begins an affair with an older girl named Mandy. As we know from the prequel, Georgie and Mandy’s love story has been tested many times but now the young couple will have a child. Judging by the cast, we’ll also see Missy, Georgie and Sheldon’s younger sister and beloved grandmother. It is not yet known whether Sheldon himself will appear in the story. The sweet couple is played by Montana Jordan and Emily Osment.
“Therapy”, Season 2

The second season will continue to explore the depths of the human soul and the complexity of relationships. The dynamics of the plot are created by the conflict between two psychologists. After the death of his wife, young psychotherapist Jimmy Laird (played by Jason Segel) tells his patients everything he thinks about them and forces them to leave their comfort zones, while his older colleague Paul Rhodes (Harrison Ford), who has Parkinson’s disease, just shrugs.
“Crime and Punishment”

A modern interpretation of an imperishable classic: Dostoyevsky’s St. Louis in the 21st century. His novel in the view of St. Petersburg. Ivan Yankovsky stars as Rodion Raskolnikov, a penniless student faced with a moral dilemma. The young man decides to kill a vile and cruel old woman living on microloans to prove to himself that “he is not a trembling creature, but he has the right.”
In Vladimir Mirzoev’s version there are also Lyubov Aksenova (Dunya, Rodion’s sister), Tikhon Zhiznevsky (Razumikhin, Rodion’s friend), Alena Mikhailova (Sonya Marmeladova), Vladislav Abashin (Svidrigailov), Yulia Snigir (Marfa, Svidrigailov’s friend). Russian movie stars such as his wife) also took part. Vladimir Mishukov (Porfiry Petrovich), Ela Sanko (old woman moneylender).
