David Schwimmer, star of the cult sitcom “Friends”, missed his chance to rise to a higher level of fame. He could star in the movie Men in Black.
Speaking on The Origins with Cush Jumbo podcast, the actor and director revealed that he was offered a lead role in the 1997 film Men in Black, at a time when he was planning to shoot his first film, 1998’s Since You’ve Been Gone. He later received an offer that he decided to decline.

“Men in Black was supposed to be made at the same time that I was making this film with my company. Of course, it was an incredible opportunity. If you look at the success of this film and this series, you’ll see that my career has taken a very different path,” he says.
But Schwimmer included his best friends in his film, who took time off work specifically to join his project. And he was determined not to disappoint them.
An interesting fact is that Men in Black star Will Smith also missed out on turning down the iconic role, albeit in a different film. In 1999, he turned down the lead role in the film “The Matrix.” Smith preferred to play the role of a cowboy in the western film “Wild Wild West,” which failed to even do well at the box office.
