Too much is not too little: in which restaurants should you look for giant dishes?

Too much is not too little: in which restaurants should you look for giant dishes?

I have never understood the anger towards large portions in restaurants. Especially when the plates are big enough to be easily shared with your table neighbors or, in extreme cases, to take home with you (by the way, we have never seen anything wrong with that either). Some restaurants even have separate items designed for two people at a time. We are talking about them in this collection.

We collected giant plates that even those who are not used to sharing food would share.

“Mama Khinkali” and “Acar Submarine”, Megobari

In Georgian cuisine, it is not accepted to eat small portions. So, for example, if khinkali, then at least three pieces. And if khachapuri, then one per person. In Megobari restaurants, everyone knows the appropriate size. So, on the menu here there is a huge “mama-khinkali”, which includes six standard-sized khinkali, including beef, lamb, cheese and minced meat, and pork. And also a huge Adjarian khachapuri, called “Adjarian Submarine” – it contains four egg yolks at once and is three times larger than usual.

How much does it cost: 950/1900 rub.

Megalasagna, glass “Liberty”

Agree, lasagna is not the easiest dish. When you order it, you already understand that you are unlikely to have enough for dessert later. But at Svoboda wine bar, it seems that they have decided to do everything to keep you full for as long as possible. The secret is that their lasagna has 22 layers, and one serving contains as much as 700 grams. By the way, they serve it in the “wrong” position – lying down, so that you can count the number of layers.

Meter kebab, Cihan Steak & Kebab

There is no such thing as too much meat, especially when it comes to kebabs. At the Turkish restaurant Cihan Turkish Steak & Kebab, project brand chef Cihan Deniz does not compromise on any ingredients. Here, a one-meter kebab made of chopped lamb meat cooked on coals is served. The meat is pre-marinated in various types of peppers and served with fried tomatoes, green peppers and chopped onions in a pomegranate-flavored wine sauce. The dish is ideal for a large company; you cannot eat it alone even if you want to.

Pineapple matryoshka, Madame Roche

Guests are always welcome in Madame Roche, the mysterious mansion of an Asian woman. This is also noticeable in the dishes served here. Or rather, in their size. For example, our favorite is the Pineapple dessert maker. It consists of three parts at once. The bottom layer is sponge cake soaked in a syrup based on lychee, gin and orange blossom water. The middle – mango sorbet. The top is pineapple creme brulee. Everyone decides in what order to try them. The main thing is to think in advance which of your sweet-toothed friends you will take to the mansion. Sweet lovers will definitely appreciate it.

Large green salad, Lumicino

The bulk of the food doesn’t have to be unhealthy. For example, William Lamberti’s Lumicino restaurant serves a giant green salad. Even if you’re an avid gardener, it’s definitely going to be difficult to master this on your own. So we suggest sharing it with a random friend who’s been on a diet since Monday. It includes lettuce leaves, romaine lettuce, radicchio, mixed salad, mint leaves, sun-dried tomatoes, blanched broccoli florets, and watermelon radish slices. And add the basil dressing as a dressing.
