Cult film ‘Poltergeist’ to be adapted into a TV series

Horror fans, here’s some news. The beloved “Poltergeist” is getting a TV adaptation. Variety reports that the project’s showrunners and writers are Kalinda Vasquez (“Once Upon a Time,” “Fear the Walking Dead”) and Robbie Thompson (“Supernatural,” “The Winchesters”).

Exact plot details are being kept under wraps for now, aside from the fact that the series is inspired by the 1982 cult horror film. The original Poltergeist followed the Freeling family who begin to be haunted by an evil spirit after moving into a new home.

It was previously revealed that the series was in the early stages of development in October of last year. Meanwhile, Vasquez’s past television credits include programs such as “Star Trek: Discovery,” “Prison Break” and “Nikita,” among others.
