Focus Properties has announced the premiere date for the melodrama Downton Abbey 3. According to Variety, the film will be released worldwide on September 12, 2025. Shooting started in England.
Downton Abbey 3’s script details are kept secret. Part 2 was set in the late 1920s, so the final episode will take the Crowley family into a new decade. Also, Violet Crawley (Maggie Smith) died at the end of the previous movie. In the next episode, her granddaughter Mary Talbot (Michelle Dockery) will manage the affairs of the mansion.
Downton Abbey 3 will also feature Cora (Elizabeth McGovern), Robert (Hugh Bonneville), Edith (Laura Carmichael), former butler Charles Carson (Jim Carter) and his wife, maid Elsie (Phyllis Logan) and others.

Paul Giamatti will reprise his role as Cora’s American brother, Harold Levinson, in Downton Abbey 3. Focus noted that other “fan favorites” will also appear in the film. Newcomers to the cast include Alessandro Nivola (Face/Off), Joely Richardson (Sandman), Artie Fruscian (Carnival Row) and Simon Russell Beale (House of the Dragon).
Downton Abbey 3 is written by series creator Julian Fellowes and directed by Simon Curtis (The Amazing World According to Enzo). Meanwhile, Curtis directed the second movie.
