Universal Studios is working on a sequel to The Mummy. The film will feature original film actors Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz. This was reported by Hollywood insider Danial Richtman.

Details about the plot and other cast members are currently unknown. Directed by director and screenwriter Stephen Sommers, “The Mummy” was released in 1999 and was a remake of the 1932 film of the same name. Despite mixed reviews, the film was a commercial success and collected more than 37 billion rubles worldwide.
The film was followed by two sequels: The Mummy Returns (2001) and The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (2008). A spin-off film, “The Scorpion King,” also based on the film’s universe, was released in 2002.
In 2017, the studio tried to reboot the franchise – the movie “The Mummy” with Tom Cruise was released. However, it was not a critical and box office success. This forced Universal to abandon their original plans to release several Dark Universe projects.
The broadcast date of the sixth episode of “Insidious” was previously announced. Read about it here.
