Although approximately five million Muslims live in Moscow, finding halal products in the city is not an easy task. Halal is everything permitted by the Quran, the holy book of Islam. But halal is not just about food. Cosmetics, perfumes, jewelry and clothing can be halal. Even relationships between people may or may not be halal. And for everything that the Quran prohibits, there is the term “haram” – an opposite concept. But back to the food.
Over the past year, domestic producers have increasingly begun to receive certificates confirming that the product meets halal requirements. For example, “Provencal Sloboda” mayonnaise and “Alenka” and “Babaevsky” chocolates recently acquired them. But things are a little different in restaurants. As a rule, all halal restaurants are located in residential areas and do not have modern interiors or a variety of cuisine. Therefore, finding a stylish restaurant serving halal products in the center of Moscow is exactly the quest that the author of this text tried to complete.
We tell you which cafes and restaurants in the capital offer halal food.
“Attention white men”
The newest place in our selection is the “Attention, white people” kiosk, prepared by the producers of the series “What Happened Then”. It’s easy enough to guess what’s on the menu by looking at the name. There are two types of white here: classic with beef and pork and halal with boiled veal. The cost of one is 100 rubles, the set of eight whites is 650 rubles. And as a pairing in the best traditions they serve a glass of sweet black tea for 70 rubles. That’s the entire menu. But remember that there is no room here. Take Belyash with you and go for a walk around the city.

bazzap
On Myasnitskaya Street there is a unique Caucasian bistro Bazzap, which serves Caucasian, Turkish and Middle Eastern cuisine. But the most important thing is that there is a separate halal menu. Chefs cook in the open kitchen, there is also a grill there, you can see how your food roasts over the fire. Be sure to try – chicken lula, lamb shish kebab and of course borek. For dessert, it is better to take the signature dzhezerye – an oriental dessert made from carrots, reminiscent of the cake of the same name.

The restaurant is designed according to the best eastern traditions – Turkish carpets hang on the walls, and the table is decorated with brightly painted plates. So how can you not fall in love with a place like this?

“Quince”
Ayva, the legendary restaurant of Uzbek cuisine, is one of the most famous pilaf dishes in the capital. You won’t find flashy oriental motifs here. The interior is made in European style, but the menu includes traditional national dishes, in the preparation of which halal products are used. What’s especially nice are the prices. A multi-course dinner here can cost one and a half thousand rubles per person. Additionally, there is no alcohol on site.
