The most popular perfume of 2022, chosen by thousands of women during the Makkah Beauty Pageant, is a cult fragrance for $376 (70 ml) with hints of jasmine, saffron and cedar.
Created to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the French crystal house Baccarat, Maison Francis Kurkdjian Baccarat Rouge 540 EDP is inspired by the distinctive ruby red crystal used in its iconic chandeliers.
Described as a “romantic atmosphere”, the unisex fragrance opens with notes of jasmine and saffron before softening into a more woody blend of amber and cedar accords.
According to the Crystal house, the woody fragrance radiates a ‘poetic alchemy’ that ‘caresses the skin like whispers of amber and woody flowers’.

They say the secret link is Hedione. The aromatic compound was developed in the 1960s and, when isolated, evokes the floral and very fresh delicacy of jasmine with a slight lemon tinge.
“Although it is very different in its natural state, more airy, brighter, it is formed in the composition of the scent of tea and jasmine,” they write.
‘In addition to this transparency and lightness, it binds other materials together and adds freshness, volume and diffusion to a creature. Francis Kurkdjian calls it a breeze of leaves.
The designer’s fragrance is commonly described as the “perfume of 2021”, so it’s no surprise that the romantic aroma will retain its status in 2022 as well.

Can’t afford Baccarat Rouge? Ariana Grande’s $29.99 cloud might be for you

Australian shoppers have found that the $29.99 Ariana Grande perfume smells almost identical to the designer’s fragrance.
The only problem is that a 200ml bottle from Mecca stores will set you back $744, which many say isn’t a reasonable price if you want to use it every day.
As a result, many beauty enthusiasts have found that Ariana Grande’s Cloud fragrance, which is priced at $29.99 (30ml) at Chemist Warehouse and $49 on Priceline, is an almost identical copy.
Like an airy dream, Ariana Grande Cloud is a creamy, soft and luxurious fragrance with a premium scent. Fresh and invigorating bergamot, rich lavender and juicy pear offer a sparkling opening. Whipped coconut cream, sweet praline and dark and mysterious vanilla create an unforgettable heart ”, writes on the perfume bottle.
Ariana’s fragrance has the same potency and similar ingredients as Baccarat Rouge 540, which has been described as extremely “sexy but at a mortgage’s price.”
Rihanna once complimented a reporter who used the fragrance at a Savage X Fenty show, which also confirmed its title as the “most complimented perfume” in the world.
“I am absolutely obsessed with this perfume, I sprayed it every time I came to the store but never dared to buy it, but even after the past few days I would still smell it, so I bought it for myself before Christmas and I’m so glad I did,” wrote a customer recently.
“Honestly this is one of the best perfumes I have tried for myself. It lasts all day and even though I can’t smell it anymore, the people around me do and I always get compliments,” she added.
And while this highly sought-after fragrance tops the list for 2022, the other six finalists were very close…
