St. The 10 best restaurants in St. Petersburg

St. St. Petersburg is the gastronomic capital of Russia. And not only we think so, but the entire authoritative community of the country’s restaurant industry gathered the day before in the Northern capital at the WHERETOEAT award to choose the best restaurants in the city.

Let’s be honest, St. St. Petersburg’s list of winners pleased us much more than Moscow’s. By the way, you can read about the ten best restaurants in Moscow by award here. In St. Petersburg, the winners included both completely new projects, such as Veter and Futurist, and those that were not included in the ten lists for the first time – for example, Harvest, which took third place among restaurants in all of Russia last year.

According to WHERETOEAT which St. We tell you which St. Petersburg projects are the best. So be sure to plan your visits to these restaurants in advance.

10th place – Food

Meal on Liteiny Prospekt is a gastrobistro that has been operating for over five years. However, during this time, the place has not lost a single bit of its popularity and even in the list of the best restaurants it is right next to the recently opened restaurants. The main feature of the restaurant is fermentation or the use of fermentation. This is how they make sourdough for bread, the base for kombucha, and even sauces. Thanks to this cooking method, even the simplest products gain a completely different taste.

Address: Liteiny Prospekt, 17-19

9th place – II Lago dei Cigni

On the shores of Swan Pond on Krestovsky Island there is an Italian restaurant II Lago dei Cigni. This is a place that must be visited by those who pay attention to all its awards when choosing a restaurant. There are a lot of them in this project. For example, it was recognized as the best restaurant in Russia according to the international La Liste award. WHERETOEAT was selected as the main project of the year in 2016. Therefore, as you can see, the restaurant is definitely not one of those restaurants whose quality and demand has changed over the years.

Address: Krestovsky Island, Krestovsky Prospekt, 21

8th place – Senior

The new Veter restaurant at the bow of the sailing ship “Flying Dutchman” is the project of the star trio (Anton Pinsky, Ksenia Sobchak and chef Vladimir Chistyakov). Although the project was only opened this year, it managed to enter the list of the city’s best restaurants. This is a restaurant with Russian soul and French elegance. Every line on the menu will be familiar, but no dish will be classic. Cabbage rolls, if available, are made with marbled veal and mushroom duxelles; Pozharskaya cutlet – made from minced black cod, halibut, shrimp and crab; Olivier – with black caviar.

The view of the restaurant is a special pleasure. From here you can enjoy panoramic views of the Neva, the Hermitage and Strelka on Vasilyevsky Island.

Address: Mytninskaya embankment, 6

7th place – Futurist

In seventh place is a new project of restaurateur and chef Alexey Alekseev, which opened six months ago. As they say in the project, the kitchen of the future is presented here with quality products and thoughtful designs. But we do not recommend worrying about this. To suit our modest tastes, the menu still features comfort food fare. The cocktail menu complements the concept of the restaurant, so we do not recommend sitting with sparkling wine all evening. Bartenders will be able to recommend which items on the menu are best to complement dishes.

Address: Barochnaya street, 6, building 1 (entrance from Bolshaya Zelenina street)

6th place – “Garden”

“Sad” is a restaurant with a veranda and an apple orchard in the courtyard. You definitely won’t find a better place for minimalist photos. The head of the kitchen is Andrey Krasov, known for his Moscow projects Lucky Izakaya Bar and Eva. The menu includes simple foods for every day. Be sure to try freshly baked pita with feta cheese and spinach mousse, tongue carpaccio with tuna sauce, crab buns, octopus with yoghurt sauce, boiled condensed milk foam with tomatoes and herbs, fruits and ice cream.

Address: st. Bolshaya Zelenina, 23A

5th place – Mr. Bo

“Mr. Bo” is a non-Asian bistro by Dmitry Bogachev and Eldar Muradov, near Liteiny Prospekt. The project got its name in honor of its owners. Mr. It is a reference to Muradov’s surname, and Bo is an abbreviation of Bogachev’s surname. Mr. in the menu. There are no canonical traditional recipes: each dish is the result of the search for something new and unexpected – oysters with stracciatella or passion fruit, scallops with jalapeño sauce. The interior features plenty of natural materials and a restrained palette. I agree, gloomy St. This is what is needed for St. Petersburg.

Address: Manezhny lane. 2

4th place – Harvest

Harvest has been topping various restaurant awards for several years now. You can come here for any reason, even every day. Each position contains simple and clear components. This, apparently, is the main secret of success. The kitchen here is dedicated to vegetables, but this is not a vegetarian restaurant. The restaurant also operates according to the zero waste concept. Its essence is to reduce waste by conscious consumption and reusing resources.

3rd row – Birch

In the year since the last WHERETOEAT award, Birch has fallen from first place to third place, losing the middle step of the podium to other projects. Moreover, you could only order a set from the chef inside the restaurant. If you reserve a place on the terrace, you will be able to order from the a la carte menu.

2nd place – Frantsuza Bistrot

Like every city, St. St. Petersburg also has places that must be visited. Frantsuza Bistrot is one of them. We at the editorial office love their breakfasts. So every trip to Peteburg starts with Frantsuza Bistrot. As the name suggests, the menu includes French cuisine under the direction of Ivan Frolukhin.

1st place – Bourgeois Bohemians

After the Berezutsky brothers left Russia, the Grebenshchikov brothers remained in Russian gastronomy. St. You can try their cuisine at Bourgeois Bohemians restaurant in St. Petersburg; by the way, it has been the best among all restaurant awards for several years.
