How to prepare a traditional English breakfast?

Have you heard of the term “English breakfast”? During your holiday, when you come to a restaurant where the buffet system works in the morning, this is the meal you most often collect for yourself. And by the way, an English breakfast can save those who wake up heavy the next morning after the party.

To be honest, the dish itself is very high-calorie. It usually includes two eggs, fried sausage or sausage, bacon, fried tomatoes, beans and bread. In general, after such a breakfast, you will not want to eat for a long time. But that’s the whole point.

The English breakfast tradition originated in Great Britain at the end of the 19th century. Ordinary workers had a lot of physical activity and needed a hearty breakfast to keep them energized all day. Therefore, several ingredients were thrown into the plate at the same time.

Even after many years, the habit of having a hearty breakfast remained with the British and even received a fixed name – Full English Breakfast. As you know, the dish has taken root in other countries, including Russia.

It is easy to prepare. Moreover, you can take any product you like as content. Believe me, they will definitely not spoil the food. Artem Sipugin, head chef of Public Cafe, explains how to make a traditional English breakfast.

Munich sausages – 200 g
Bacon – 80 g
Plum tomatoes – 120 g
Beans in tomato sauce – 100 g
White mushrooms – 40 g
chicken eggs – 3 pcs.
Butter – 50 g

For the potato pancakes

potatoes – 200 g
Flour – 40–60 g
Salt – 2 g
Egg – 1 pc.
Butter – 15 g


English breakfast recipe

First you need to bake the sausages in the oven for 6 minutes at a temperature of 180-200 degrees or fry on the grill with a little butter.

Next, grill the bacon until fully cooked.

While the bacon is browning, cut the tomato in half and also grill with butter.

Then we get potato pancakes. Grate the potatoes, salt and squeeze well. Next, in a separate bowl you need to mix the potato mass with an egg and two tablespoons of flour. Fry all this in a pan until golden brown for two to three minutes on each side.

Put the finished potato pancakes, sausage and bacon on a napkin to get rid of excess fat.

Well, then fry the scrambled or scrambled eggs in a pan, add the porcini mushrooms and heat the beans in a saucepan in tomato sauce.

We put it all on one plate – and you’re done!
