Baby names come and go in 100-year cycles, as experts predict Albert and Joan will be popular again soon.
The 1921 census allowed historians to examine records of the most popular names for babies under one year old at the time.
They also used current trend analysis to predict which baby names will make a comeback 100 years from now.

The findings come from family history company Findmypas, which also revealed that the royal family influences baby names.
“History always tends to repeat itself, and baby names are no exception,” said Mary McKee, Head of Content Publishing Operations at Findmypast.
“All roads lead to Joan, as parents increasingly name their little girls after powerful female historical figures. And who better to be inspired than Joan of Arc?
When it comes to male names, these tend to make a comeback, but as an equivalent nickname: Frederick becomes Freddie, Archibald becomes Archie.

New research predicts that the top 20 baby names will return after the turn of the last century.
The findings are based on trend analysis that shows the names become popular over 100-year cycles.
Royals have always been shown to be effective. In the year of the Queen’s birth, the popularity of the name Elizabeth increased by 16%. The birth of Prince Harry in 1984 brought the name into vogue after a crisis in the 1960s and 1970s.

And the royal influences are expected to continue with the birth of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s children, Lillibet and Archie.
Royal weddings are also a source of inspiration for new parents – there was a 56% increase in the number of children named Phillip in 1947, the year the prince married Elizabeth.
And after Diana married Prince Charles in 1981, the number of children bearing her name rose 122%.
