Fortunately, Sophia, who dreams of becoming a paramedic herself, trained as a medical assistant four years ago.
“It happened so fast,” Sophia recalled recently to the Washington Post. “I was shocked because I didn’t know how much time he had yet.”
The DoorDash employee was able to guess that Caryn had been unconscious for about 15 minutes, as the blood was already starting to clot.
“You have to come here right away,” he remembered saying to the switchboard. “This is serious.”
While waiting for the ambulance to arrive, Sophia asked Robert to bring a towel to stop the bleeding and a blanket to keep Caryn warm as it was only 30 degrees that night.
And Sophia’s quick thinking may be the reason why Caryn is still alive today.

He remembered seeing “lying in the driveway, freezing cold” and “many white clouds” before everything cleared up.
Even after the ambulance arrived, Sophia continued to help doctors treat Caryn.

Caryn called the delivery person (with her family in the picture) her “guardian angel” and added that she likely “wouldn’t have made it if she hadn’t come.”
