One woman describes how she lost eight stones by tossing her takeaways for healthier homemade versions so she could complete a “wish list” that included skating, learning to DJ and going to her first musical festival.
Laura Holder, 44, from Sidcup, Kent, hated to see herself and refused to have a full-length mirror in the house because she hated her reflection.
Laura, a mother of two, ended the night with a vat of Ben and Jerry’s ice cream, and when she was the oldest, she dropped the scale to 187 pounds and tucked it into number 24.
But when the pandemic hit 2020, it scared her about her health and motivated her to lose weight so she could complete a “wish list”. He has lost eight stones and is now down to 107 lbs and has entered a slim 8-10 size.

The mother of two confessed that she hated seeing her reflection in the mirror when she was heavier.

Super skinny offered a list of activities she wanted to do to motivate herself to lose weight.
“There were so many things I wanted to control in life, but I never had self-confidence because of my weight,” said Laura, a stay-at-home mom.
With her two children — Frazer, 18, and Mason, 14 — she revealed she had gained weight during her pregnancy and found herself turning to food for comfort.
The day usually started in the bar of an English fries shop, then started at the chip shop for lunch and ended with a greasy kebab for dinner.
“I would turn down invitations to parties and weddings and literally hide myself,” she recalls. “I wouldn’t even let my parents have a full-length mirror at home because I hated my appearance.
“I found a new life after losing weight and I’m ready to get my list.”

Laura has always considered herself “old” and remembers being overweight in her youth, but noticed that her weight was piling up after she had two children with her gas engineer husband, 41-year-old Jamie-Lee.
After dropping them off at school, she would often go to the local cafe or grab a takeaway. He would snack all day and easily brush a bag of chips at night.
Laura said: “I had no portion control and always ate large portions for dinner. I was definitely a convenience eater too. If I was stressed or depressed, I would go straight to the fridge to feel better”.
Laura, who runs a stall in London’s Dagenham Market, has received bad reviews about her looks, even from outsiders.
She said: “A stranger on the train called me ‘Hagrid’ when my hair was darker. Another person working at a competing booth called me “Gemma Collins” to try to insult me. I tried deleting them but absolutely unsuccessful.

Laura, who runs a stall in London’s Dagenham Market, received bad reviews from strangers about her oldest appearance, but now she has the last laugh in the photo.
When the coronavirus freeze hit in March 2020, Laura decided to make changes to her diet. A close friend lost a family member to the virus, and Laura worried about her health because of her size.
She began counting calories and controlling portion sizes, which helped “lose” the weight. She made healthy food choices and mixed her favorite takeaway meals with fresh ingredients at home.
“I was terrified of being hospitalized and not being able to be with my family,” Laura said. “I didn’t exercise, I just changed my diet.
“I didn’t eat until noon and stopped eating after 7pm. I was involuntarily fasting and it worked wonders for me.’

Clever Laura has also learned to create healthier versions of her favorite dishes from scratch.
To motivate her to lose weight, Laura created a “wish list” of fun activities she avoids because of her looks.
Her list included starting podcasts, taking acting classes, playing soccer with her son, and wearing a bodycon dress.
He even created a Facebook page called My One Year Glow-Up for his journey and amassed nearly 3.5k followers.
When she started losing weight, Laura found it safe to check things off her list.
“I know some people feel safe no matter their size, but I don’t. Even small things like wearing swimsuits were things I couldn’t do.

Laura shared her weight loss journey online and now that she has lost weight as you can see in the photo, she spends her time and energy checking items on her list and attended her first festival last year.

Over the course of a year, Laura lost eight pounds – down to 107 pounds.
She’s already done a lot on her list and now she’s feeling confident, she plans to do more.
Laura said, “I went to my first music festival called ’80s rewind. I got the glow and Billy Ocean blew me a kiss from the stage – it was amazing.
“I want to try to help other women love their bodies and be fit and healthy. I was the only one standing and I finally feel good and happy.
