Prince Harry’s protection request ‘probably triggered by Prince Andrew’

Prince Harry claims to have ‘protected’ the queen Buckingham Palace officials said the spark may have been ignited after they saw Prince Andrew escorted to the monument to His Highness Prince Philip.

The 37-year-old Duke of Sussex said in an interview with US television presenter Hoda Kotb of Invictus Games in The Hague last week that he was confident his grandmother “had the right people around”.

Some royal guards initially took his comments as incitement to his father and brother, calling it “insanity”, while others said he may have targeted private secretary Sir Edward Young or dresser Angela Kelly.

However, Buckingham Palace insiders have now said he was instead targeting Prince Andrew, who was embroiled in a scandal over his friendship with the late pedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein.

“These images of Prince Andrew escorting the Queen to Westminster Abbey may have upset Harry, which is now believed to be one of the reasons he made such a surprising comment.

“Harry knows the Queen’s aides and there is no animosity whatsoever. Palace knew they could be interviewed, but no one wanted comments like that.”

The source added that Prince Harry had hinted that he was concerned about the Queen’s safety, which could stem from his close relationship with Andrew in recent months.

They also said that the Duke of York was trying not to stand out after the great damage he had done to the monarchy, so the palace officials were determined to steer clear of Harry’s comments.

“It targets not only Charles and William, but also his private secretary, Edward Young,” said royal biographer Tom Bower.

Bower added that all of Harry’s requests were “turned down” and that the NBC interview was “Sussex’s way of attacking those who block its own promotion”.

Prince Andrew was convicted worldwide for his close friendship and relationship with the late pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

Prince Andrew's relationship with Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell has been criticized around the world. Earlier this year, he struck a multimillion-dollar deal with Epstein's victim, Virginia Giuffre.

But the queen would have been more forgiving about her relationship with him.

Andrew came after a multi-million dollar deal with Virginia Giuffre earlier this year.

Even at the age of 17, Giuffre accused him of sexually abusing her three times.

The Duke of York has repeatedly denied the allegations.
