Did you know that Fight Club, A Star Is Born, Titanic and Paranormal Activity have alternate endings? Today we tell you how your favorite Hollywood movies could end.
“Fight Club”
Last year, David Fincher’s cult movie Fight Club premiered in online cinemas in China for the first time. Everything would have been fine if the streaming service hadn’t changed its ending. In the original, Edward Norton kills his alter ego and watches with Marla Singer the big bang that will kill them both.
But the Chinese version did not explode. The movie ends with Marla and Edward holding hands and looking at the city. After that, the credits begin, saying that the police managed to defuse the bomb and the main character was sent to prison. The reason for the change in the ending is not clear, but the ending has been confirmed by the authorities.
“A Star Is Born”
In the 2018 movie, Jack hangs himself in the garage because he thinks Ellie canceled the tour to take care of him, hindering his success and progress due to his alcohol addiction. In the alternate ending, Jack could have crashed it with his motorcycle, referring to the 1976 movie.
“Titanic”
In the official version of the movie, Rose throws the Heart of the Ocean apple into the water. In a different interpretation of the ending of the movie, Rose is found by treasure hunter Brock Lovett, about to commit suicide by jumping off the deck of a ship. The hero explains to the man that he cannot live with the diamond that took his love and that he must go to the depths of the ocean like Jack.
“Supernatural”
The first part of the cult serial has several endings. Steven Spielberg kills Kathy and Micah in a house inhabited by demons. In other versions, Katie’s consciousness is swallowed by evil forces, but a neighbor notices her condition and calls the police who killed the girl. There is also the option for Kathy to kill herself and exorcise the demon while doing so.
“Avengers: Infinity War”
In the original version, Thanos snaps his fingers and kills half the universe. Despite being in the original version, the Russo brothers wanted the final scene to kick off the new and final episode of The Avengers.
“Lion King”
The Lion King’s happy ending could have been very different. Simba, as we know, won the battle with Scar, but to the surprise of the audience initially, Scar was supposed to throw Simba off the cliff and then burn to death without noticing the fire approaching around him.
“Wonderful”
A romantic comedy about the relationship between Julia Roberts and Richard Gere, a financial magnate and a girl of easy virtue, it has penetrated the souls of millions of viewers. And from the movie’s finale, tears often rise when Edward climbs the fire escape to his window and proposes to Vivien. But Pretty Woman could have had a completely different ending. Edward was supposed to break up with Vivienne and leave her only a fee, but he eventually had to die of an overdose.
