Spain issues arrest warrant for ‘Tinder scammer’ Simon Leviev

Spain has issued an arrest warrant for Israeli swindler Simon Leviev (real name Shimon Hayut), the hero of the Netflix documentary “The Tinder Swindler.”
According to the Daily Mail, in 2019, the Maserati car Simon rented was stranded on a Spanish beach. The scammer, who was with an unidentified Russian woman who arrived at the scene of the accident, introduced himself as Michael Bilton and offered false rights.
More than two years after this incident, a police officer was able to identify Leviev thanks to a resounding movie about his machinations. The officer appealed to the city court of Algeciras with a request to continue the criminal investigation against the fraudster – now Simon faces jail time for using false documents.
However, it is currently unknown whether Leviev’s arrest and extradition in Israel will follow the issued order. It should be borne in mind that the scammer served his sentence for using a fake passport in his homeland, so it is not yet clear whether the Spanish authorities will prosecute him for a similar offense.
Recall that the movie “The Tinder Swindler”, which was released on Netflix, was a hit on the streaming service. Israeli Shimon Hayut talked about how he met women on his Tinder app and pretended to be the son of diamond magnate Lev Leviev. Gaining the trust of his victims, he borrowed a large amount from them and disappeared.
