“Why should I watch this?”: Brooke Shields and co-star discuss ‘Blue Lagoon’ nudity 42 years after photo’s release

Brooke Shields on the iHeartRadio podcast “Now What?” reunited with Christopher Atkins. 42 years after the release of their cult movie The Blue Lagoon.

Randal Kleiser’s 1980 film featured many nude shots. Brooke was only 14 at the time, and Christopher was 18. Shields and Atkins played cousins ​​Emmeline and Richard Lestrange, who fall in love while living on a deserted tropical island after a childhood shipwreck.

“It was hard for me to keep my clothes on after that movie,” Atkins recalls. “Remember there were scenes with you, I was rolling down the hill with my bare ass and all that. It was a little embarrassing for me, but also a little funny because I was doing just that at that moment. But your reaction was this: [раздраженные звуки]”. “We were wearing small strips of clothing, and my hair was taped to my body to cover my already very small breasts,” the actress recalls.

Shields was also amazed at how great the wild conditions were on Fiji’s island of Nanuya Levu, where they were injured by local insects, crabs, mice, bedbugs and horses: “It would never have been done today.”
