A Brazilian father killed his four children with a pillow and a knife, allegedly to “avenge” their mother after she left him.
The bodies of the victims, aged three, six, eight and 11 respectively, were found on Tuesday at the suspect’s home in Alvorada, southern Brazil.
Police arrested 28-year-old David da Silva Lemos early the next day at a hotel in neighboring Porto Alegre.
He told police he gave the children a “tea” to calm them down before suffocating them with a pillow and stabbing them.
David da Silva Lemos, lower left in the photo, stabbed his four children to death on Tuesday, allegedly to take revenge on their mother, who is not in the photo.
The children were found dead at home with stab wounds to the front and back in Alvorada around 19:30 on Tuesday when family members called the police.
He was taken to the police station, where he then exercised his right to remain silent.
The victims’ maternal grandmother believes he killed the youths to “take revenge” on their mother, from whom he was recently divorced.
Idenise Martins da Silva told local media: “He has already attacked my daughter.
“Their relationship was over forever, but he did it to get my daughter – I’m sure – in the worst possible way. He is a coward.’

He was issued a restraining order after assaulting his partner in the lead-up to the murders, local media confirmed.
Deputy Deputy Edimar Machado, in charge of the investigation, said: “We will also try to analyze the mobile phone confiscated from him to see if there was anything on his mobile phone related to the crime, the threats that he to the children’s mother to collect further evidence of his involvement in the crime.’

Her father, David da Silva Lemos (28), was arrested on suspicion of murdering the four children in Alvorada, Brazil.
The police say the couple have been together for 12 years, but broke up after Lemos attacked his partner in September.
The 24-year-old victim filed a complaint with the police and a temporary injunction was issued against him.
Family members said the children were staying with their father at the time of the murders and will be reunited with their mother in the coming days.
Police said Lemos sent threatening messages to his ex-partner shortly before he allegedly committed the murders.
The victims were named as – from youngest to oldest – Kimberlly, Giovanna, Donavan and Yasmin Antunes Lemos.
