It even took the combined forces of Carey’s Christmas classic and Christmas to fend off Swift. The first four places were taken by Christmas carols. Carey was followed by Brenda Lee’s “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree”, Bobby Helms’ “Jingle Bell Rock” and Burl Ives’ “A Holly Jolly Christmas”.
Fifth place went to “Creepin'” by Metro Boomin, The Weeknd and 21 Savage, followed by Swift, which dropped five places to reach No. 6 on the December 17, 2022 chart after spending its first six weeks at the top would have spent

Carey’s modern Christmas carol was first released in 1994 and with the rise of music streaming services it was rediscovered and became a viral hit. According to Billboard, the song reached the top 10 in December 2017. In 2018, “All I Want for Christmas” reached the top 5 and was crowned king a year later, a feat Carey accomplished four years in a row. It was at the top for three weeks in 2019, two weeks in 2020 and three weeks in 2021.
“All I Want for Christmas” also holds the record for the most time spent at No. 1 for nine weeks as of this week as a Christmas song. Released in 1958, “The Chipmunk Song” is the only other Christmas song to top the charts after four weeks.
