A fashion editor’s diary: a new place on Moscow’s fashion map, a jewelery collection inspired by the Nutcracker ballet, and a touching project from grandmas

Hello to all fashionistas! Your fashion editor is in touch. There are so many trends and brands in my world that I decided to keep an online diary where I would take notes on the most important things in the fashion world. And although such diaries are often called personal, mine are open to all readers – so that you are aware of the most important ones.

This week has been an information-rich week. On Monday, Telegram channels talked about Irina Shayk in an Alaïa dress and a Business of Fashion article about her favorite zoom brands. On Tuesday, the entire fashion community hailed Cardi B in a “naked” Jean Paul Gaultier jumpsuit from the 1993 collection, while the newsworthy main news Wednesday was the stellar appearance on the red carpet of The Fashion Awards 2022 in London, but on Thursday everyone was dressed in Gucci He was talking about the Dickies joint collection. Well, let’s not forget the scandal with Balenciaga that has not subsided for over a week.

Yes, there was indeed a lot of news, so I decided to capture the most important things in this post. Shall we begin?

The New Year is less than a month away, which means it’s time to decide on a festive look that will conquer everyone. If you are a seeker like me, I recommend you pay attention to the collection of the Russian brand 1811, codenamed “Call me with you”. The New Year’s capsule is an incredible symbiosis of romance and glamor with a whispering emphasis on sexuality. The collection combines crinolines and sleeves, tassels, jacquards, sequins, sheer fabrics and lace. Inspired by the Art Deco era, which embodied its elements in the capsule, the brand’s designers added a restrained yet bold minimalism to the texture of the products.

Metallic tones are quite common in the collections of fashion brands. Some designers use bright colors to emphasize laziness and charm, while others refer to the theme of futurism and reflections on space. One way or another, silver has taken its rightful place on the trend color podium this season, leaving gold a few places behind. This indisputable fact is confirmed by the New Year’s Precise collection, where I found the perfect lace-up top and bulky cargo in silver tone. Just what you need for a holiday night!

So what’s a New Year without the Nutcracker? This year, the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Theater presented a modern version of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s legendary ballet, which turns 130. Russian jewelery brand Parure Atelier took inspiration from the game and created a capsule collection of Waltz of Snowflakes jewellery. Contains seven pieces of white gold with diamonds and aquamarine. While working on the design, the craftsmen sought to convey the dazzling splendor of winter: noble metal, diamonds and aquamarines intertwine in a strange dance of snowflakes. The one piece deserves special attention: It is an ingenious brooch depicting a ballerina in a crown and a dress woven from crystal clear diamonds. A true Christmas story!

I always treat Russian brands collaborating with social projects with special concern. And then I’m talking about the coolest collaborations. For example, at the end of November, the domestic brand Murmurism released the Love, Kiss, Hug collection, which includes sweaters knitted by grandmothers from the Vnukunuk project. The site now has four cozy sweaters and a knitted vest with sheepskin (and it’s already on my New Year’s wish list). By the way, a little later the collection will be replenished with accessories.

Our fashion department closely follows fashion discoveries in the Russian capital and other cities and shares the most interesting ones with you. For example, next week in the very center of Moscow – on Malaya Bronnaya – a store of the Russian brand 495 will be opened, which has many fashionable denim products in its collection. By the way, this name was invented for a reason, 495 is the city code of Moscow.
