If Paris prides itself on being the fashion capital of the world, it’s been a long time since it stopped handing out its Fashion Oscars or its Golden Dice (formerly an awards ceremony that ran from 1976 to 1990). In the United States, however, the Council of Fashion Designers of America continues to present its CFDA Awards each year. Similarly, in the United Kingdom, the British Fashion Council (British Fashion Council, often abbreviated BFC) also has its ceremony, whose 2022 edition allows you to take the temperature of European luxury.
Thus, on December 5, the British Fashion Awards 2022 ceremony was held in London, of which here are the winners.
Model of the year
- Winner: Bella Hadid
- Adut Akech
- Lila Moss
- Paloma Elsesser
- Quannah Chasing Horse

Stylist of the year
- Winner: Pierpaolo Piccioli for Valentino
- Damnin Gvasalia for Balenciaga
- Jonathan Anderson for JW Anderson and LOEWE
- Matthieu Blazy for Bottega Veneta
- Miuccia Prada for Prada and Miu Miu

Independent British Brand of the Year
- Winner: Wales Bonner
- Bianca Saunders
- Erdem
- JW Anderson
- Molly Godard

BFC Foundation Award (emerging creator award)
- Winner: SS DALEY (menswear brand run by Steven Stokey-Daley)
- Ahluwalia
- Chopova Lowena
- Nensi Dojaka
- Wales Bonner

These names may not be familiar to you, and for good reason: on the one hand, British fashion is proving to be particularly edgy, and on the other, it’s also a sign of the degree of disconnection of the luxury industry from the rest of the world. Whether this is good or bad news is up to you…
