The entertainment industry accounts for 20% of the Covid outbreaks recorded in the workplace in Los Angeles County

In a weekly briefing on the state of Los Angeles County Covid, Director of Public Health Barbara Ferrer pinpointed the entertainment industry as the industry that showed the most recent recorded explosions.

“The entertainment industry has been over-represented in our reports over the past three weeks, with 18 groups, eight of which were released April 13-19, accounting for 20% of all employment reports for that week.” Ferrer announced.

But he also pointed out that if the number in the entertainment industry is higher than in other sectors, it could be because film and television products are doing something right and not wrong.

“This could be due to the general increase in cases, as we have seen in the community, as well as the comprehensive detection protocols that the industry maintains,” said Ferrer.

Pizarra County “Active explosions in non-residential settings,” which exclude health care, account for 50% of current leisure institution explosions. But even if the country updates the list daily, it may take weeks after the outbreak ends to remove it from the dashboard.

Other major industries that have reported working groups in the past 3 weeks, according to Ferrer, are grocery stores with 14 groups, manufacturing with 8 groups, and retail with 7 groups.

The number of daily cases in Los Angeles increased nearly 2/3 last week, from 1,355 last Friday to 2,123 today. But that number is probably not enough, as many Angelenos use home tests more than ever, and if someone is positively diagnosed with certain symptoms, they are less likely to report an infection.

The same goes for jobs. Film and TV products are rigorously tested, while not many other businesses, many cases are unlikely to occur in these industries.
