They became fast friends through their love of football and exchanged numbers before the next day Jassa received a text saying: “There’s a car waiting for you.”

The friends were then driven to Omar’s sprawling mansion, where he arranged a lunch with a football-themed fruit platter.

They were then given a tour of the mansion and invited to swim in the pool before they all stayed to watch Japan’s surprise 2-1 win over Germany.

Jassa, who runs a butcher’s shop in Wolverhampton, said the experience was “wonderful” and they were “overwhelmed” by their host’s kindness.

He said: “You cannot even dream of what happened to us. We were in our hotel bar and he came up and said he knew wolves.

“He saw my Wolves shirt and we started talking about football, Wolves, Raul Jimenez and he said he was a Manchester United fan.

“He was really knowledgeable and knew a lot about wolves, he knew we fired the manager.

“He was such a nice, hospitable man. He started buying us food and drinks and didn’t charge us anything, but he wanted us to feel welcome in his homeland.”

Yassa explained that they were talking about football and that Omar had written down his number.

He said: “The next day I get a call from him that his driver is waiting outside our hotel to take us to his house.

It said, “There’s a car waiting for you.” We could not believe it. We were shocked because we didn’t expect it at all.

“We went to his house, which was a big mansion. We then sat with him, drank tea and biscuits and he showed us around the house.

“Then we all watched the Germany vs Japan game and sat with him in the dining room at a big dining table and ate.

“While we were walking through the house, he took us to the pool and said we could go swimming but we weren’t dressed for it.

Jassa (pictured bottom right from the World Cup), who runs a butcher’s shop in Wolverhampton, said the experience was “incredible” and they were “blown away” by the kindness of their host.

“It was just a surreal experience and it shows that the hospitality of the people of Qatar is top notch.”

Jassa added: “We have experienced nothing but wonderful hospitality and kindness here in Qatar. The people of Qatar were amazing. They are absolutely diamond people.

“They know they have problems in the media, but we’ve had nothing but kindness from everyone.”

The group of friends from Wolverhampton, Dudley, West Midlands, London and New Zealand said they were unaware of Omar’s background as he was “very humble”.

Jessa added: “We called him Prince but he said, ‘Please don’t call me that, I’m one of you.’

Jessa and her friends have tickets for England’s first three games and also attended Portugal v Ghana yesterday (Thursday).

He said: “It’s been a mission to organize – make sure we have the tickets and accommodation, but to be here is great.

“Obviously Portugal is our second team with a lot of Wolves players.

“The whole experience was fantastic, there were many meetings with different nationalities.”

England fan who ‘met Sheikh while buying beer in supermarket’ reveals what happened ‘in a £460m mansion’ on his first day at the World Cup in Qatar

By Alastair Lockhart

An England fan has revealed what happened when he found himself “in a £460million palace with a male lion” on his first night at the World Cup in Qatar.

Alex Sullivan, 23, was on his way to Doha with his father, Tommy, and their boyfriend, John, to find beer at a supermarket when they claimed to have met a member of the Qatari Emir’s family.

After meeting the royal family and friends, the trio said they were invited for a ride in a Lamborghini back to the massive palace on the outskirts of the city, which also has its own private zoo.

The father and son said they were scared at first but soon found themselves in luxury thanks to the hospitality of their super-rich Qatari hosts, who they described as “incredibly generous and hospitable”.

He claimed they were “down to earth and friendly,” adding, “We had a great time talking to them.”

Her story quickly went viral on social media as soccer fans around the world expressed their disbelief at the amazing story.

Alex told The Mirror: “They were incredibly generous and welcoming and we had a great time. They slept most of the day, but they took us for a ride in the Lamborghini. I filmed it and also played with a male lion.

“He had his own zoo with the male lion, various birds of prey and some monkeys. They are clearly very powerful people in the business world. The palace was worth about two billion Qatari riyals [£460 million].

“But they were so down to earth and friendly, we got on very well with them.”

Alex posted a video of himself in the palace grounds with a male lion on his first day in the country, surprising those who were skeptical of her claims after it was revealed in an interview with TalkSPORT.

In some footage, he can be seen walking up a ramp towards what appears to be the palace.

He says: “We’re on a beer mission to get beer back at the gaff and I’ve only managed to get us back to a damn… a naughty one with Nawaf and Abdul-Aziz.

“We’re just scared.”

In other footage, he can be seen outside under floodlights next to what appears to be a set of football nets, with a group of men in traditional Qatari thobes – long white robes – and headdresses.

Alex then sits down on a chair and begins stroking and kissing a playful male lion on a leash. “Damn crazy,” he exclaimed.

John told TalkSport: “We met one of the Sheikh’s sons and he took us back to the palace and showed us he had lions and everything.

“They made us feel so welcome and looking around, it doesn’t get any better.”
