Jake Flint dies: Country singer-songwriter turned 37

Jake Flint, a country singer and guitarist from Oklahoma, has died at the age of 37, his manager Brenda Cline announced on social media. No cause of death has been disclosed.

“It is with sadness and deep sadness that I announce that Jake Flint has tragically passed away,” Cline said on Facebook. “I’ve tried to post several times today but you can’t comment on anything you can’t handle. In the photo below, Jake and I excitedly signed our artist management agreement. It was the beginning of a wonderful friendship and collaboration.”

Flint died on Saturday night, hours after his wedding. Cline said she and Flint were “close to doing business together” before his loss.

Flint released his debut album I don’t feel well in 2016. His next CDs were Live and Not OK at Cain’s Ballroom (2018), Jake Flint (2020) and last year Live and social distance at the Mercury Lounge. He had local hits in Texas and Oklahoma with “Cowtown”, “Long Road Back Home” and “What’s Your Name”.

“Jake has a million friends and I’m not sure how everyone is going to deal with this tragic loss,” Cline added. “We need prayers – it’s all so unreal. Please pray for his new wife Brenda, Jake’s precious mother, his sister and the rest of his family and friends. It’s going to be incredibly difficult for so many. We love you Jake and forever in our hearts.”

Flint’s widow, also known as Brenda, shared a video from her wedding day on her Facebook profile of the country singer happily dancing with his bride.

“I don’t understand,” Brenda wrote.

In a follow-up post on Facebook, Brenda shared her thoughts on dealing with the loss of Flint.

“We should be reviewing wedding photos, but I need to pick out clothes to bury my husband in instead,” she wrote. “People shouldn’t feel so much pain. My heart is gone and I really need it to come back. I can’t take much more. I need him here.”
