Why add water to dry shampoo?

Dry shampoo is an extremely practical invention that saves us precious time, especially when we have long hair. However, there is no denying its use often causes dandruff and dry scalp.

Some users also report feel a cardboard effect in the roots which is not the most pleasant, especially when this feeling lasts throughout the day. An impression mainly due to the presence of rice starch powder (most often), which helps to absorb sebum. But how can moisturizing dry shampoo help improve this problem?

Once the sweat is absorbed, the product tends to have a powdery effect at the roots. But when the scalp is slightly wet, the water will dissolve the dry shampoo particles and the final result will be optimized.

A discovery that doesn’t actually date back to yesterday, given that hair stylist Michael Dueñas. already partially explained this theory last March in the columns of Byrdie :

“When used on oily hair, dry shampoo absorbs excess oil. Used in combination with water, for example on damp hair, it tends to bind to the strand making it fuller, thicker and more voluminous. »

Dry shampoo, this handy tool that should be used sparingly

Dry shampoo is certainly very practical, but absolutely does not give up the use of a cleansing formula. Because while spraying this product allows excess sebum to be absorbed to obtain visually clean hair, sebum, dust, fine particles and dead cells are still present on the scalp. As you build up layers of dry shampoo, this phenomenon will be all the more visible and your pores will slowly but surely begin to clog. Results? Itching, dandruff and other ailments may develop.

The only way to wash your hair properly is therefore to make a real shampoo. And even if it takes longer, your scalp will thank you.
