After Lilibet’s birth, some reports suggested that the Queen was not consulted in advance regarding the use of the name. At the time, a representative of Harry and Meghan denied these allegations to The Independent, arguing that the couple would not have used the name “if”. [Ее Величество] didn’t support it.”

Now, an excerpt from a book about the royal family has revealed that the Queen accepted Harry and Meghan’s tributes in “good faith”, the Daily Mail reported.

Book author Giles Brandreth wrote that some members of the family found the Duke and Duchess’ decision “surprising”, but that Elizabeth saw it as “a compliment that should have been”. Upon learning of this, the Queen is reported to have said, “I heard them call her ‘Lily’, that looks very nice and true.”

Elizabeth II’s father, King George V, gave her the lovable nickname Lilibet, which was only used by the Queen’s close relatives, particularly her late husband, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
