Stephen King is back to announce Twitter’s new direction as Elon Musk takes over the reins of the company. This time, the best-selling author shared what the social media platform’s advertisers felt after many companies stopped spending.
“Soon, My Pillow will be the only advertiser on Twitter,” King said tweeted.
Musk saw the tweet and replied, “Oh hi lol.”

In a follow-up tweet, Musk said he was “curious” about the quality of MyPillow and asked if it was “a really good pillow.” Not to be outdone, Musk then predicted a headline that could be generated after the exchange between the two, tweeting: “Caption: ‘Stephen King Tweet Skyrockets My Pillow Sales!’ Lmaoo.”

King did not respond to Musk’s tweets after his initial message. However, it wasn’t the first time the two had a riff on the platform. In October, King protested Musk’s plans to charge users $20 to receive a blue check.
$20 a month to keep my blue check? Screw it, they have to pay me. When this rolls out, I’m gone, just like Enron,” King tweeted.
Musk countered with a counter proposal, lowering the subscription price to $8.
“We have to pay the bills somehow! Twitter cannot rely entirely on advertisers. How about $8? Musk tweeted.

Twitter users can now get a blue check mark next to their username if they subscribe to Twitter Blue for a monthly price of $8. However, when the option became available, many used it to impersonate other companies and it the industry went. The feature has been paused, and Musk recently announced that it has been delayed even further.
“Delaying the relaunch of Blue Verified until there is a high level of confidence in stopping counterfeiting,” he said said. “Probably a different color control is used for organizations than for individuals.”
