Our favorite children’s albums for the month of November

November – and its rainy weather – makes us want to stay home and read even more. This is the perfect opportunity to discover new albums with the little ones!

Pearl is very bored, for 3 years

This beautiful album signed by Susie Morgenstern and Charlotte Roederer, published by Nathan editions, is a cute little story that makes you smile and gently warms you. It tells a glimpse into the life of little Perla who, as the title suggests, is bored in her bedroom. Nothing about her helps, neither her games nor her toys allow her to have fun, she sulks. Until her friend Anna comes home for the afternoon, and the two have fun like little parakeets, using all their imaginations.

In this pretty book written by Didier Lévy and drawn by Amélie Graux, all published by Nathan, three children talk to their so-called explorer “father”, who doesn’t exist. The little ones understood that it was their mother who wore the double hat, and it is told so beautifully, for such a delicate subject, that it fits perfectly. A beautiful portrait of a single parent family, and a true declaration of love to those who raise children alone.

Aperitifs, from 2 years old

Written and drawn by Didier Levy, published by Sarbacane editions, The happy hours it is a hymn to the imagination. Lots of tenderness, humor and poetry to tell the story of the Mustache brothers, a kitten and a little dog. We follow their adventures full of light and joy, and we too, do not see the time go by, just like them. A nice nugget for the little ones!

Dad’s friend, from 4 years old

Written by Angela Portella, drawn very well by the talented Léa Mazé and published by Little Urban editions, dad’s friend is a nugget to help children deal with the topic of parental separation. All in poetry, delicacy and sensitivity, it tells the emotions linked to the arrival of a new person in the family scheme, all seen through the eyes of a child.

Fox, Marcel and the chicks, from 5 years old

Crush alert: here’s our little favorite from this November selection! I don’t know if you knew the first volume titled Fox and little George, but if not, do it with your eyes closed (well not too much, it’s impractical to read right away). In this new album written by Thibault Prugne and published by Margot editions, the famous fox finds himself in an incredible situation involving chickens, a squirrel and a wolf. It’s funny, it’s well written, the drawings are superb, in short you will understand: we loved it.

The opinion of our little 6-year-old reader: ” This fox really goes all out and pretends to be the bad guy, when in reality he’s too scared of a poor wolf and likes chickens. Ridiculous ! “.

Feathered, furry or scaly? For 2 years

This illustrated book on nature published by Delachaux and Niestlé is excellent for the little ones, as is his other volume entitled Animal or plant which we already told you about last month. The principle is simple: the child discovers what has feathers, or scales, through high-quality photos of exotic or more common animals. The book is solid, made of very thick cardboard, and is a good first approach to discovering animals and their differences.

Our 11 month old little reader’s opinion: – chews the book diligently and claps in front of the animals.

The young teacher and the big snake, from 6 years old

Another hot crush we share here with you, written by Colombian author Irene Vasco and illustrated by Juan Palomino. The young teacher and the big serpent tells the story of the culture shock of a teacher transferred deep into the Amazon rainforest, to a small school. She brings all her books that are so dear to her and she wants to teach the children many things. But a mudslide destroys everything, the school, the books, the houses and she finds herself devastated. Until she realizes that she’s not the only one she can teach others things, and that legends and stories are true, as long as there’s someone to tell them. This album is a gem!

Our 6-year-old reader’s opinion: ” A school in the middle of the jungle? But it must be great! Well, other than the mudslide and the snakes, no, I don’t want any. So, do giant snakes really exist? »

Beautiful animals, from 6 months

As a very first children’s book, it’s perfect. Illustrated by Aurélie Guilerey and published by Nathan, Extremely beautiful beasts is a large illustrated book in relief that all little chewers eager to touch everything will love. Each page is dedicated to a set of more or less small beasts, such as crooked ones, those with large ears, or spines and hard shells, but also long tails, noses or different beaks. This large illustrated book made up of 100 animals and their felt reliefs is perfect for the little ones!
