The Prada bomber jacket: trend, sustainability and craftsmanship united in one garment

Bomber jackets are a strong and successful choice to wear in the fallThey combine easily and are a trend. Their history dates back to World War I, they were designed to protect pilots from the cold, which is why they were initially made of leather, which helped maintain body temperature.. Since the beginning of the 20th century began a journey in which it grew from an official army garment to one of the jackets most used by men and women in everyday life. During its century of life, it has been reinvented and updated through a variety of prints, colors and materials, including leather, metallic fabrics, neoprene and nylon.

Prada is one of the capitalized names that it reinvented, creating an original and enduring version. She presented it on her Fall/Winter 2022 runway, where we saw 3 quilted designs, too big and with a lot of volume who were proclaimed the protagonists of the catwalk and the streetstyle. During the show, Kendall Jenner, one of the models wearing the Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons designed garment, showed the world the blue version with Prada’s feather collar. This same one has also been worn by Rihanna.

Prada is positioned as one of the companies leading the forefront of fashion and luxury with its modern style, commitment and innovation. He demonstrated this with his Re-Nylon project, a sustainably designed fabric made from recycled and purified plastic materials extracted from the sea. During the production of the ECONYL® yarn, National Geographic shot a series of documentaries documenting the creation process. This is how Prada puts it: “Five short films show the production processes of this unique project: an incredible journey between the different continents (from Africa to America, from Asia to Oceania, to Europe) to the discovery of the ECONYL® thread that makes- up regenerated nylon, revealing behind the scenes of this avant-garde fabric and the ideals that drive this initiative”.

The bomber is a contemporary classic. Its versatility is therefore one of its greatest attributes. Here are some pictures of the streetstyle to inspire and combine like the fashion experts.
