Dior to sponsor Venice Biennale
The 59th Venice Biennale, a traditional international art exhibition, will be held in Italy from 23 April to 27 November. According to WWD, the event will be sponsored by Dior. Cecilia Alemani, director of High Line Art, will curate the main project “Milk of Dreams”.
The name of the biennial “Milk of Dreams” is inspired by a book by surrealist artist Leonora Carrington. alemen said:
It was these images that inspired the theme of the biennial.
Cecilia explains.
Cecilia claims that compared to past biennials, female artists will make up the majority of attendees. This was the main reason why Dior decided to finance the Biennale.
Pietro Beccari, Dior’s CEO, told WWD.
The fashion house will host a gala dinner on the opening day of the exhibition together with the heritage association Venetian Heritage. Dior will also invest its assets in the foundation’s fund.

The works of 213 artists from 58 countries will be exhibited at the biennial. There will be no Russian pavilion this year. Kirill Savchenkov, Alexandra Sukhareva and Raimundas Malašauskas, representing Russia at the biennial, announced that they would not be able to participate in the project due to the events in Ukraine.
The event will also go through technological innovations. This year, for the first time in the history of the exhibition, NFT works will be presented at the Venice Biennale: crypto art will be exhibited in Cameroon’s first pavilion.
