Malcolm Nancy, a former MSNBC contributor, appeared on the network in his war gear on Monday and said he was joining the fight against Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
“I spent a lot of time here before the war,” Nancy told MSNBC’s Joy Reid. ReidOut. “I had friends who were in the Ukrainian army in Donetsk when the invasion took place, who wrote to us and said, ‘We will not survive tonight.’ We hit it 500 times.
“The more I watched the war, the more I thought, ‘I’m done talking. It’s time to let it go and move on.”
Nance noted that he joined the International Ukrainian Regional Defense Legion, a foreign military unit of the country’s armed forces.
Nance said he joined the International Legion about a month ago, “and I’m here to help this country in a war that is essentially a war of destruction. It’s an existential war and Russia has brought these people here and they are massacring civilians. And a man like me.” There are people who are here to do things.”
According to him, “they are there for one purpose and one purpose only, and that is to protect the innocent people of Ukraine from Russian aggression. This is not just any war.”

Nancy served in the US Navy and was a counterterrorism expert and analyst at MSNBC. A spokesperson for the network said she is no longer contributing.
Nancy said she didn’t think she was a target for the Russians. “The war waged here is against everyone. They will not look for a place on the American flag, they will not see who is black, who is Asian, who is Latino. She said they were fighting “side by side, side by side” with Ukrainian forces. The Russians “barely” attacked the Ukrainian troops, she said. “Their focus seems to be on the mass murder of civilians, which is against all laws of war. “These are war crimes,” she said.
Nancy repeated in a post on her personal Twitter page: “I’m done talking.”
