Rumors were rife on the possible participation of Dua Lipa in the World Cup which will begin on November 20 in Qatar.
This Sunday, November 13, the British singer cut short on her Instagram account:
“At the moment there is a lot of speculation about my participation in the opening ceremony of the World Cup in Qatar. I won’t be on stage and have never been in talks to play it. »

She didn’t stop at a denial, adding in passing that she will encourage England, but also that she can’t wait “visit Qatar when it fulfills the human rights commitments it made when it won the right to host the World Cup”.
A very cunning way of insisting on the fact that, even if she had been asked, she would not have signed to open this World Cup in a country where the rights of LGBTQI+ people are trampled on and where eight stadiums have been built at the cost of the lives of thousands of foreign workers.
Still rumors, but only one name confirmed for the opening of the World Cup
Dua Lipa was not the only name to circulate regarding the opening ceremony to be held at the Al Bayt stadium: there is also that of Shakira, a habitué of intoxicating football anthems, who however has absolutely not confirmed her presence.
Currently, only BTS member Jung Kook has been confirmed to perform the opening show.

At the beginning of October, 65% of French men and women interviewed declared themselves capable of boycotting this particularly controversial World Cup.
