Quentin Tarantino joined Jimmy Kimmel Live to promote his recent book, Film Speculation.
There, Tarantino wrote that “there are very few excellent movies,” but The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is one of them.

When asked by host Jimmy Kimmel about other movies he considers “excellent,” Tarantino replied, “Well, there isn’t much – it just shows that the art is hard. <…> Ideal films touch the whole aesthetic to some degree.
And here are the movies he thinks fall into that category:
- Jaws (1975)
- The Exorcist (1973)
- Annie Hall (1977)
- “Some people might say ‘Young Frankenstein’ which I can understand” (1974)
- Back to the Future (1985)
- Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974)
