Jonathan Swan is leaving Axios for the New York Times

The New York Times has hired Axios’ top national political reporter, Jonathan Swan, who won an Emmy for his 2020 interview with then-President Donald Trump.

Swan will initially cover Capitol Hill, “where he will focus on the Republican Party and its fragile coalition in Congress,” according to a memo from political editor David Halbfinger and Washington bureau chief Elisabeth Bumiller. Swan will then join the political team next summer.
