Director Paul Haggis found guilty of rape

The director will have to pay $7.5 million in damages as it is a civil lawsuit, so the director will not be jailed. However, an additional punitive measure may be imposed on him at the next hearing.

Recall that Brist sued Haggis in 2017. According to her, the director forced her to give him oral sex in the apartment after the premiere of his film.

In June, Haggis had already been detained on another rape charge. Then the screenwriter was detained in Ostuni, Italy. According to the Brindisi prosecutor’s office, the director forced the stranger to have sex with him for two days and then dropped him off at the airport in a physically and emotionally difficult situation. There the girl was given first aid, after which she wrote a statement.
