James Gunn and Peter Safran have begun plotting an 8 to 10 year plan for DC Studios

James Gunn And Peter Safran they’ve been working hard trying to figure out and plan for the future of DC as DC Studios. They’re still in the early stages of this, but Gunn shared an update on what they’ve done and teases that they have an eight to 10-year plan planned.

While speaking in a virtual town hall (via The Hollywood Reporter), Gunn opened up about his ideas for the future of DC Studios saying:

“The opportunity to make DC as big as possible and the way it should be – that’s why I’m doing this job, because I know Peter and I can do it. We’ve spent the last couple of days with a group of some of the best thinkers in the business, the best writers in the business, starting to lay out that eight- to 10-year plan of what it’s going to look like in theater, on TV, in animation, across the board. for these characters.

Zafran added:

“This was such a unique opportunity to tell a great overarching story. A beautiful big story across movies, TV games, live-action and animation.

It will be really interesting to see what they are actually planning. Honestly, I wonder if they discussed scrapping everything in the DCEU and starting over. The Batman it’s out of their jurisdiction, which is fine, i like what Matt Reeves he’s doing with that, but the entire DCEU has become a complete mess and a fresh start might be refreshing.

But I trust that Gunn and Safran will make the right decisions no matter what they decide to do. With them leading the charge, I think the future of the DC Cinematic Universe is bright.

It was previously explained that Gunn “will focus on the creative side, while Safran will focus on the business and production side of things. Both are expected to continue directing and producing projects respectively.

Gunn previously teased that they’re trying to tell the greatest story ever told in multiple films, saying:

“But all of our initial focus is on the story moving forward, crafting the new DCU and telling the greatest story ever told across multiple films, television shows and animated projects. We invite all DC fandoms from across the multiverse – and all the others in this new universe. We look forward to revealing more.”

CEO of Warner Bros David Zaslav he previously teased what’s coming and shared that running DC Studios is a passion project for Gunn and Safran, and not just a job:

“[For them], running DC Studios is a passionate project, not just a job. James is a brilliant storyteller who has the distinction of being the first and only director to direct the film for both Marvel and DC. Peter is a prolific producer whose credits include DC’s top-grossing film, Aquaman, as well as the whole Evocation universe, the most successful horror franchise of all time. I couldn’t be more thrilled to have them join our ranks. And I’m excited for what’s to come. I’ve spent a lot of time with James and Peter over the last few months, talking about our strategy and long-term plans for DC’s future in TV, animation and film.
