Michael Adler dies: Steven Soderbergh and Viola Davis’ lawyer turned 73

Renowned entertainment attorney Michael Adler has died.

A former partner at Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp, Adler joined Lichter Grossman & Nichols in 1997, five years after the company first installed its shingles. With a client list that included Steven Soderbergh, Viola Davis, Kristin Scott Thomas, Cary Joji Fukunaga and Connie Nielsen, Adler was considered a true shooter who was fiercely loyal to his clients. Without irony, Adler was also involved in deals such as Soderbergh board financing and distribution Magic Mike.

To that end, prior to his retirement in 2019, Adler spent significant time transitioning his clients to younger partners in the firm to ensure a smooth transition.

Funeral services for Eagles will be held at Mount Sinai Simi Valley on November 11 at 12:30 p.m. For more information about the Shiva, please contact the offices of Lichter Grossman Nichols Adler Feldman & Clark directly.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked friends and others to make a gift in Adler’s memory to one of his favorite charities: American Friends of IDC Herzliya, Builders of Jewish Education, or Camp JCA Shalom.
