Roger Sexton is dead: “Survivor: The Amazon” contestant was 76 years old

Roger Sexton, a contestant on the CBS reality show Survivor: The Amazon, died of Lewy Body dementia on Oct. 26 at the age of 76, his family confirmed. He died at the home of his daughter and son-in-law in Walla Walla, Washington.

Sexton, a retired Navy and Vietnam War veteran, was part of the show’s sixth season. Sexton soon became the alpha in his team of men known as the Tambaqui tribe. He is credited with leading the construction of housing for the group.

It was not a peaceful stay for Sexton, whose abrupt manner alienated some of the younger men and women. He became the first player to be voted out of the merged Jacaré tribe and the seventh to leave the game overall.

Sexton is survived by his wife of 54 years, Diane; his daughter Amy (Brian Evensen), two grandchildren and two sisters.

This spring, a celebration of life will be held at the Sexton’s House in Walla Walla.
