A top Iranian actress who starred in an Oscar-winning film is arrested after posing without a headscarf.
Taraneh Alidoosti, 38, who starred in The Salesman – which won best foreign language film at the 2017 Oscars – was previously sentenced to five months in prison for sharing a video showing a moral group beating a woman in ‘ A woman walking down the street in Iran who was attacked because she was not wearing a headscarf.

Iranian actress Taranah Alidoosti, who stars in a scene from the 2017 Oscar-winning film, has been sentenced to five months in prison with a two-year suspended sentence for republishing a video of a woman being raped by the sub-group be charged.
The sentence is a rallying cry for protesters who criticize the Iranian regime.
Other high-profile figures, including Iranian footballer Sardar Azmoun, supported the protesters.
In his Instagram story, the Bayern Leverkusen striker said: “Shame on you for killing the people and viva women of Iran so easily. Long live the Iranian woman!’
Often dubbed the “Natalie Portman of Iran” by global media, Alidoosti also caused a stir in 2016 when he unveiled a feminist tattoo at a press conference for The Salesman.

Volant Media UK reported that Alidoosti was summoned before Branch 9 of the Culture and Media Prosecutor’s Office on 21 January 2020 and charged with “anti-state propaganda activities”.
She was released on bail after being charged and has yet to publicly comment on her sentence.
In 2020, she also broke ranks and criticized the government in Tehran in a post on Instagram, telling her nearly six million followers that “we are not citizens” but “prisoners”.
