Gabriel Byrne’s Broadway solo show Walking with Ghosts ends early after box office battle

Gabriel Byrne’s Broadway Solo Show Walk with ghosts will play its final show at the Music Box Theater on Sunday 20 November, a week after opening on 27 October.

The announcement of the completion was made today by producers Anne Clarke, Mara Isaacs and Neal Street. The program was originally scheduled to run until December 30.

Adapted by Byrne from his best-selling memoir, Walk with ghosts, directed by Lonny Price, began previews on October 18 and opened to mixed reviews. The autobiographical one-man show struggled at the box office, filling less than half its slots last week and earning just $168,378 for seven shows.

The show fared better in the UK, with sold-out performances at Dublin’s Gaiety Theater and a limited run in London’s West End, before moving to Broadway.
