If when you found the oldest and first scripture you thought it would be predictions, advice or any important information, then it’s time to upset you – this is definitely not the case. Judging by the inscription on the side of the old ivory comb, the first adherents of the alphabet took care of their personal hygiene.
The oldest readable sentence written using the first alphabet was found on the side of an ivory comb. The words are neatly printed in letters one to three millimeters wide and represent the call: “Let this tooth get the lice from the hair and beard.”

Yosef Garfinkel of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and colleagues unearthed the comb at an archaeological site in southern Israel in 2016. Garfinkel’s team claims this particular artifact was in use about 3,700 years ago.
The inscription consists of 17 letters and two of them are damaged. They form a complete and understandable sentence written in the ancient Canaanite language. “This is our oldest suggestion in the alphabet,” Garfinkel said. The oldest known phrase is about 400 years younger than the one written on the coat of arms.
