It’s a fist action who is running a lot of ink (and soup): this Friday, October 14, 2022 at the end of the morning, two environmental activists from the NGO Just stop the oil sprayed a Vincent Van Gogh painting on display at the National Gallery in London with Heinz tomato soup before gluing his hand to the wall.
One way of speak out against climate inertia and the current crisis affecting the most vulnerable, as the two activists said:
“What is more valuable? Art or life? Is it worth more than food? More than justice? Are you more interested in protecting a painting or protecting our planet and its inhabitants?
The cost of living of the crisis is part of the oil crisis. Gasoline is no longer within the reach of hundreds of thousands of hungry and cold families. They can’t even afford to buy a can of soup anymore. “
Shock actions as long as necessary?
Facing this priceless painting, Is Just Stop Oil going too far? Is it necessary to shock up to this point to get a message across? While some argue that the end does not justify the means, others emphasize it Sunflowers I am exposed under glass and therefore they weren’t dirty with tomato soup.

However, as this lunar sequence showed on British television, good speeches are no longer enough and perhaps we have to get used to such actions, provided that no real measures are taken to avoid climate disasters. D.These actions are certainly shocking, but no less than the terrible heatwaves, fires and floods that are already visible today.
